WRP crack detecting devices

The WRP eddy current crack testing devices are used to detect cracks, overlaps, notches, pores, to find voids on or just below the surface and to detect weld seams in metallic materials.

Product

LAW NDT’s eddy current crack testing devices are available in two versions. On the one hand, as table devices, for manual testing, random testing, laboratory work and experiments. On the other hand, as built-in devices for integration into testing systems for automated 100% quality control in the production line.

Built-in device

Tabletop device

The scope of delivery includes all connection cables for additional devices, a 1.8 m long PVC probe cable with individual wire shielding and self-locking precision connectors.

The table housing can also be equipped with a lockable hinged lid and the probe cable is available with a steel jacket to prevent mechanical damage with an oil-repellent PVC coating. The devices can also be expanded to include features such as rotation monitoring and distance compensation.

Performance data

On/Off –
Elimination of interference on the sensor

Slow / Normal / Fast –
Adaptation of the measured value acquisition to the relative travel speed between the probe and the test part

0 – 100 % –
Amplification of the measured input signal of the crack detection probe

20 KHz / 50 KHz / 80 KHz –
Test frequency to adapt to the test criteria of the test part

Internal / External –
Internal: Measuring cycle activation when the probe approaches the test part
External: Measuring cycle activation via a machine control from outside

Good / Reject –
Visual display of the test result after each measuring cycle with automatic control of the potential-free contact for parts sorting

Status display indicating that the distance between the probe and the test part is too large, as well as an error message if the sensor is interrupted or defective

Applications

Extensions

For controlled access to the measuring device by authorized personnel.

For reproducible exchange of probes.

To reduce interference in heavily electromagnetically polluted environments.

Plastic frame to protect the probe against impact damage.

For monitoring the test part movement in front of the differential crack detection probe.

To reduce pseudo rejects from testing systems when the distance between the test part and the sensor fluctuates.

Individual software for displaying and evaluating the measurement results, PC or IOT based.

Probes

The LAW NDT probe program includes a variety of sensors for a wide range of applications, which essentially differ in diameter, housing shape, connection plug and measuring characteristics.

Screwable DIN and push-pull connectors in industrial quality, combined with stainless steel adapter sleeves, guarantee contact reliability and longevity. High flexibility thanks to different housing and shaft lengths for tight installation spaces, as well as 45° and 90° flattened probes for inclined positioning on test parts, round off the program.

In order to achieve the best possible test results, LAW-NDT offers probes in various diameters from 3.0 to 16.0 mm. Ultimately, material properties, concentricity, testing speed and positioning decide which probe is used.

Coils

Since a wide range of testing tasks must be covered in materials testing today, LAW-NDT has developed a variety of different test coils and probes that are used in hardness testing, structural testing, weld seam detection, layer thickness measurement and other applications.

Depending on the task, you can choose between round coils, rectangular coils and test probes, each in different sizes, in order to achieve the best possible test results. As with all LAW-NDT products, you will also find the tried and tested screwable DIN and push-pull connectors in industrial quality. Their use guarantees contact reliability and longevity.

Test coil housings from LAW-NDT are provided with appropriate threaded holes and enable safe installation and a tight fit in the test field.

Cable

The LAW-NDT probe cables form the interface between the test sensor and the evaluation electronics. They usually have to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Good shielding and mechanical strength are the prerequisites for interference-free signal transmission.

That is why we offer liquid and chemical-protected sheathing as well as highly flexible probe cables covered in steel braid with very tight bending radii for production use. Our range of cables includes lengths from 0.5m to 20m with straight and angled connectors that can be used for all LAW-NDT sensor types.

Specific spare parts

LAW NDT has been building special machines and systems according to the individual requirements and tasks of its customers for decades. It is often the case that parts and entire components have to be specially designed and manufactured for these machines. In the event of an emergency, it is therefore important that the installed parts can be quickly identified and exactly recreated in their specific design. In these cases, LAW NDT archives construction plans and data beyond the prescribed time frame.

We know that every minute is money. Since a short response time is always important, LAW NDT has created processing machines and capacities in the main factory so that we can produce most of the custom-made products ourselves. Play it safe with LAW NDT!
